Lots of Aston Villa fans are reacting to the latest transfer news, as Football Insider claim the Villans are eyeing a summer swoop for Millwall colossus Jake Cooper.
According to Football Insider’s report, Dean Smith wants defensive reinforcements this summer regardless of what division the club are in. They claim Cooper is ‘high on the wanted list’ of both Smith and recruitment chief Jesús García Pitarch, and that Millwall are expecting interest in their star centre-back.
Of course, Smith has moved to a three centre-back set-up this season and this requires plenty of depth at that position, while the team’s defensive numbers as a whole are abysmal. Per Sky Sports, via @VillaReport, the Villa Park outfit are 20th in the league for clean sheets, goals conceded at set pieces and shots faced per game.
