It may be a new year, but it’s the same old VAR drama dominating the Premier League.

Aston Villa’s crucial 2-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor was overshadowed by the controversial decision to rule out a Jack Grealish strike early on in the game.
The Video Assistant Referee adjudged Villa striker Wesley to be offside by the tightest of margins.
The finest margins!

The Villa skipper went on to score the winning goal later on in the contest, as he and Wesley were on target for Dean Smith’s men.
There’s been plenty of controversy surrounding VAR, with Wolves skipper Conor Coady particularly outspoken following his side’s loss to Liverpool.
It’s fair to say its introduction to England’s top flight has been met with mixed reviews, particularly surrounding offside decisions, just like the one affecting Villa today.
Their fans weren’t impressed with the decision to disallow that goal, here’s how some of them reacted:
The cameras do not have the frame rate to be making decisions of that precision!
