Everyone at Aston Villa loves Stiliyan Petrov. The 39-year-old Bulgarian became an icon at Villa Park and the fans love it when he returns to the club on matchdays. What they haven’t loved, though, is his 1-to-11 of teammates from his days at the club, which Aston Villa put on Twitter.

Loads of Villa fans have been slating some of Petrov’s picks for his dream team, with Alan Hutton coming under heavy fire for his inclusion. Whilst there are a lot of quality players who will have missed out on the team, the fact that Petrov only spent six years with the club before having to take a career break as he battled with cancer means that his options for each position would have been limited.
Either way, his team has come under fire. That’s not to say that the Bulgarian’s side isn’t a quality eleven and a lot of Villains would die to have the team that Petrov has named ahead of their current group in the Championship. One day, though, some of the current stars may be able to stake a claim to be in their own icon’s eleven and if they can help the club regain promotion to the Premier league then they’ll be going down in Villa history.
