Alan Hutton has dropped some injury news on Wesley as Aston Villa prepare for their game away at Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former Villa ace said with regards to the Brazil international: “I know he’s out on the grass now”.
Wesley news encouraging for Aston Villa
This will surely come as an encouraging piece of news for Dean Smith’s side given that Wesley has not played at all so far in the 2020/21 term thanks to the nasty injury that he suffered in the middle of last season. That issue has kept him out for a very long period of time but he is now firmly on the comeback trail.
Although the Midlands club now have Ollie Watkins on their books, Wesley could be a very useful asset as a back-up striker just in case the former Brentford ace gets injured himself, or if he simply needs a rest.
Should Aston Villa start Wesley?
However, ahead of the game against the Seagulls on Saturday night, there is absolutely no need to rush Wesley back for that particular encounter as Villa should have more than enough quality to beat Brighton, but it is important that he starts to train and get familiar with being on a football pitch again in the near future.
The 24-year-old scored six goals in 22 games in all competitions for a struggling Villa side before his injury (Transfermarkt), which is not the best goal return, but at least it shows that he is capable of finding the back of the net on occasions.
