Reliable reporter Ashley Preece has claimed that Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi is unhappy at Bodymoor Heath due to his lack of game time under Steven Gerrard.

And a number of Villa fans have been reacting to the update on social media.

El Ghazi was linked with a move to West Ham last weekend, with Hammers boss David Moyes viewing the Dutchman as a versatile attacking option.

Villa would apparently prefer a permanent sale but are also open to loan offers, with the 26-year-old featuring in just 33 minutes of Premier League action under Gerrard.

The wide man is yet to start a game under the new boss and has had to make do with substitute cameos against Brighton, Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

His contract expires in 18 months time, with Preece claiming El Ghazi is unhappy at his lack of game time when discussing possible January departures.

“Anwar has done a lot for us but unfortunately it just comes down to the fact that he isn’t good enough for the PL just like Hourihane wasn’t. I wish him all the best but it’s time for him to move on”
