Gabby Agbonlahor claims Ahmed Elmohamady is the ‘perfect’ man to come in for Aston Villa at Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former AVFC and England international striker lauded his last display at home to Leicester City and thinks that the 33-year-old is more than capable of stepping in for Matty Cash who is currently trying to recover from an injury:
“I thought he was outstanding.
“Against one of the top three, top four wingers in the league and he was outstanding.
“He was physical, he was left one-on-one a lot and he did the best that any right-back could do against Barnes.
“He’s looking like the perfect player to come in when Cash is injured. He did very well.”
Elmohamady the right man to play against Leeds
Elmohamady showcased why he is more than capable of stepping up to the plate against Marcelo Bielsa’s men at Elland Road with his last performance against the Foxes, despite the 2-1 home loss for Dean Smith’s team.
The Egypt international won five of his duels and also made no fewer than four interceptions and tackles in the game, the most out of any of his teammates to have set foot on the pitch (Sofascore).
Should Aston Villa sell Elmohamady?
He will likely have a very tough test up against Jack Harrison, but his renewed defensive mindset and awareness means that the right-back should be a reliable asset to have if the Whites expectedly start to bomb forward at any given opportunity.
Nonetheless, Agbonlahor believes that Elmohamady is the ‘perfect’ man to step into the shoes of Cash as the Midlands club aim to take all three points away from the fixture.
