Aston Villa could be heading into a summer of significant change after suffering two major blows to their squad.
Youri Tielemans is reportedly edging closer to a surprise move to Manchester United, while Lucas Digne is also being linked with a return to Paris Saint-Germain.
The French left-back is believed to have a release clause worth more than £8.5 million, giving the Ligue 1 giants a potential route to bring him back to the club.
With Digne’s future uncertain, Unai Emery is already looking at possible replacements, and Villa appear to have identified an experienced international option.
Villa Want Estupinan to Replace Digne
Aston Villa have opened talks over a potential move for AC Milan defender Pervis Estupinan as they prepare for the possibility of Lucas Digne leaving this summer.
According to the Mail Online, the Ecuador international is among the players being considered by Villa, with Unai Emery already familiar with the full-back from their time together at Villarreal.
Estupinan has previously been hailed as “one of the best left-backs in the world” by former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, highlighting the reputation he built during his time in the Premier League.
Negotiations between Villa and Milan have now reportedly started, with the Italian club valuing the 28-year-old at around €20 million. However, Villa are hoping to agree a slightly lower fee.
The Ecuadorian enjoyed a solid first season in Serie A after joining Milan, making 19 league appearances, scoring once and providing one assist. His only goal proved memorable, as he struck the winner in the derby victory over Inter to complete a league double.
With Champions League football on the horizon, Villa are keen to maintain the quality of their squad, and Estupinan could provide the experience and attacking threat required to replace Digne should the Frenchman depart.
