Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern would like a top ten finish in the Championship this season before aiming to kick on into next season.
Indeed, there is no reason why that isn’t attainable at the moment with them currently 12th in the division and in not too bad form.
Of course, they want to be back in the top flight as soon as possible, though, and so the onus will be on Steve Bruce to bring in players that help them towards that end.
It appears the groundwork is already being done, too, with The Birmingham Mail claiming that Marvin Johnson of Oxford United in League 1 is of interest.
Indeed, Villa are apparently not alone in their interest with the likes of West Midlands rivals West Brom and Birmingham also being linked with a player who is about to reach his prime.
At 26-years-old he has really started to kick on at the Kassam Stadium and there is every chance he could be about to get his big chance to prove himself.
The winger has five goals this season and could be some shrewd business on Steve Bruce’s behalf.
