Scotland were in action last night against Russia, but fell to a heavy defeat against Stanislav Cherchesov’s side after a second-half capitulation in Moscow.

Steve Clarke’s men found themselves on a level playing field at half-time, with the score standing at 0-0, but goals from Artem Dzyuba (2), Magomed Ozdoev and Aleksandr Golovin after the break secured three points for the hosts, leaving the Brit’s second-from-bottom in Group I as things stand, while Russia move to second.
Scotland fans have been quick to single out the performance of John McGinn during last night’s defeat to Cherchesov’s men.
The Villa midfielder is an influential member of Dean Smith’s side in the Premier League – scoring three goals and providing an assist for the West Midlands club this term – but failed to have a similar level of influence against Russia last night.
Here’s how some Scotland fans reacted to the 24-year-old’s performance on Twitter.
How is it we have guys like John McGinn absolutely balling in the premier League but as soon as they pull on a Scotland top they turn into Bob Malcolm

Scotland in general haven’t been great again but it’s another game where mcgregor has been really poor. He’s not helped by this amazing John McGinn we never get to see either.

McGinn runs about like a headless chicken
