Aston Villa: Gabby Agbonlahor drops inside Ezri Konsa claim - Aston Villa Transfer Rumours

Gabby Agbonlahor has dropped an inside claim on Ezri Konsa and thinks that the Aston Villa ace has a good chance of going to the EUROs in the summer.

A recent report from football journalist and transfer guru David Ornstein for The Athletic has claimed that the former Brentford central defender is on the radar of both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Should Villa sell Konsa for big money?

No

Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor has claimed that Konsa could well make Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad and also revealed what he has heard about the 23-year-old:

“He’s just got to keep doing what he’s doing. Keep clean sheets, it’s all about stats nowadays so keep the clean sheets coming.

“He’s got every chance because he’s been playing outstanding football. He’s comfortable with the ball, he can play out from the back and he’s got that pace which you need in international football.

“Konsa, Mings, Targett, all of them have got aspirations of playing for England. If they keep playing how they’re playing, anything’s possible.

“I’ve heard that he’s a good lad, he’s very confident in his ability. Great signing from Dean Smith. Every signing’s been perfect. He came from Brentford, didn’t cost a huge amount of money and now he’s probably worth five times that amount.”

Aston Villa must keep Konsa

Dean Smith’s team must look to keep the £10.8m-rated Konsa at all costs in the summer amid the links with a move to either Spurs or Liverpool.

The Englishman has been nothing short of outstanding so far in the 2020/21 term, keeping no fewer than nine clean sheets in 20 games in the Premier League, and has also won 4.7 of his duels and averaged 4.2 clearances a match in the division (Sofascore).

If he carries on his fine form for the rest of the season, then Southgate certainly has a big decision to make as to whether to give him a spot in the squad, given that he has never been capped before for England at senior international level.
