There was an element of distraught among the Tottenham Hotspur supporters here in the Transfer Tavern this past week, as they witnessed their side crash out of the Champions League at the group stages following a 2-1 reverse to Monaco.

The Spurs were unlucky not to win the Premier League title last season and their Champions League adventure was meant to be the dream that they had waited for a few years for.

The contingent of Spurs supporters who were drinking until the early hours here in the Tavern began the inquest straight after the final whistle, with some of the more passionate followers keen for certain players to be axed in January.

One man who hasn’t featured much this season is Tom Carroll, but Lee Clarke looks at two other players who he thinks should be sent packing during the forthcoming transfer window.

Vincent Janssen

The Dutch striker has been a massive flop since arriving at White Hart Lane in the summer and he could be sent packing out on loan during January.

The 22-year-old failed to take his chance in the absence of Harry Kane through injury and he doesn’t look at all like a Premier League player at present.

One Spurs fan is sat watching the latest sports news here in the Tavern and he says that he will happily drive Janssen back to Holland himself!

Ben Davies

The young left-back has lost his place in the Spurs side to the impressive Danny Rose and it could be time for the Welsh international to move to progress with his career.

Davies is way too good to be sat twiddling his thumbs on the bench and a move to another Premier League club would be handy for both parties.

One of the Tottenham supporters is chilling with a beer and burger here in the Tavern and he likes Davies, but concedes that he perhaps just doesn’t have the required quality to take Spurs to the next level.
