The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from their Croatian centre-back, Dejan Lovren, as he’s given his thoughts on the race for a top-four finish this season. Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side has meant the race for Champions League football will go to the last day of the season, although Lovren has been speaking to the Liverpool website, explaining how he believes they’ll manage it again this year.

Whilst the fans aren’t arguing that Lovren’s wrong, they’re getting sick and tired of seeing him talking to the press. Fans have singled out Lovren as the culprit for Olivier Giroud’s first-half header that was enough to secure the points for Chelsea against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge yesterday. Lovren hasn’t become disheartened by the loss though, claiming that they can take inspiration from last season’s final day win over Middlesbrough that secured Champions League football for the Reds this term.
That win over Middlesbrough has turned out to be all-important for the current season. The Kopites have their first Champions League final in eleven years to look forward to in just under three weeks when they travel to Kiev for a mammoth clash with Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid. If Klopp’s men beat Brighton at home on the last day of the season then they’ll be playing Champions League football next year, although if they fail to win and Chelsea usurp them in fourth, they can still qualify by winning the tournament this year on May 26th.

At fault for the Giroud goal. Firmino had Rondon at the Hawrhorns, but Lovren had his DNA all over the crime scene, too. Such a poor centre back
