It hasn’t been a campaign to remember so far for West Ham United, who have failed to adapt to their new surroundings at the London Stadium much to the dismay of their ardent supporters here in the Transfer Tavern.

Slaven Bilic has overseen just six wins in the Premier League so far during the season and his side were dumped out of the FA Cup last weekend with a miserable 5-0 drubbing against Manchester City.

Today sees the Hammers take on Crystal Palace and former boss Sam Allardyce, who will no doubt be looking to rub salt into the wounds of the hapless Hammers upon his return to the club.

Andy Carroll

The target man started last week’s FA Cup game against Manchester City but was largely ineffective, which could mean that he drops back to the bench for today’s game.

One West Ham fan is sat reading the Saturday newspaper with a pint of lager here in the Tavern and he thinks that the club needs to see more from Carroll, otherwise he could find himself deemed surplus to requirements at the club.

Carroll could be a smart introduction from the bench this weekend and the Hammers will hope he can have some impact on the final result against Crystal Palace.

Ashley Fletcher

Another striker who could pose a threat from the bench is highly-rated youngster Ashley Fletcher, who will be keen to make his mark on the West Ham first-team.

Fletcher has actually been linked with a move away from the London Stadium, although his form in League One last season suggests that he is a natural-born finisher.

One West Ham fan is munching on a croissant here in the Tavern and he thinks that Fletcher should have been given more of a chance by now, stating that he is lively and energetic – everything which the Hammers are sadly lacking at present!
