Brentford have become accustomed to seeing key players leave in recent years, but the Bees appear determined to break that cycle.
Ivan Toney moved to Saudi Arabia, Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United and Yoane Wissa switched to Newcastle, while Christian Nørgaard and David Raya both departed for Arsenal.
Now, however, with Brentford aiming to qualify for European football for the first time in their history, the club want to keep hold of their most important players.
Brentford Open Contract Talks with Kevin Schade
Brentford have opened talks over a new contract for Kevin Schade, TEAMtalk understands, as they look to fend off interest from Arsenal and other Premier League clubs.
The 24-year-old winger is tied down until 2028 after joining permanently from Freiburg, but Brentford are keen to improve his terms and strengthen their position.
Schade has become an important part of Keith Andrews’ attack, with his pace and direct running making him a constant threat. Andrews has previously described the German as “excellent”.
The winger has scored 23 goals in 117 appearances for the Bees, including two Premier League hat-tricks, and his form has attracted attention from several clubs.
Arsenal reportedly made an enquiry during the summer, while other European sides are also keeping tabs on him. Brentford, though, are now working to ensure Schade does not become the latest star to leave the Gtech Community Stadium.
