Brentford are keeping tabs on Ipswich and England U21 playmaker Omari Hutchinson. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Brentford have identified the England U21 international as a possible replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who is linked with a move to Manchester United.
Romano adds that no club to club talks have taken place yet, but the Bees appreciate Hutchinson as a potential target should Mbeumo depart.
Brentford and United remain locked in negotiations for Mbeumo, with United having launched two unsuccessful bids for the player’s services. Talks are ongoing, and the understanding is that an agreement will likely be reached later in the window.
Hutchinson played a starring role for England in the EURO U21 this summer. He started and played in all six matches for the champions, scoring in the 3-2 win against Germany in the final. He impressed in his Premier League debut last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists across 31 matches for relegated Ipswich.
Hutchinson has made 75 league appearances for Ipswich over the last two seasons, contributing 13 goals and six assists.
He was a pivotal part of the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2024, scoring 10 goals in 44 games.
Brentford appreciate Hutchinson

The 21 year old is keen on returning to the Premier League. He joined Ipswich permanently from Chelsea last summer in a club-record deal worth up to £22.5million with performance-based add-ons.
Chelsea have the right to match any bid that comes in for Hutchinson this summer, but are unlikely to trigger that option having already brought in wingers Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian.
Hutchinson would likely play a key role under new Brentford head coach Keith Andrews either on the right wing or in the number 10 role. He would become Brentford’s fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Antoni Milambo, Caoimhin Kelleher, Michael Kayode, and Jordan Henderson.
The player reportedly has a release clause in his contract worth £35 million. It remains to be seen whether Brentford would be willing to pay the fee, or if they will be looking to negotiate a lower price.
