Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern were already excited about the derby with Birmingham coming up but things appear to have been kicked up another notch.
The Villans were already going into this game as the favourites thanks to the Blues’ awful run of form under Gianfranco Zola but they could now face a completely different proposition.
Indeed, that’s because Harry Redknapp is now the club’s manager until the end of the season and so we should expect some kind of reaction from his new team when the two sides meet.
Villa fans, meanwhile, have had plenty to say on Twitter – most of it derisory – and so, with that in mind, here is the best of what was said:
