Celtic fans on Twitter praise Boyd who has been defending the club through the media

Celtic will be hoping they can extend their lead at the top of the SPL when they take on Hibernian at home tonight.

Brendan Rodgers’ men currently hold a six-point lead over second-placed Rangers and, heading into their fixture, former defender Tom Boyd has questioned the standard of officiating in Scotland.

“When I watch games, Celtic’s in particular, they are not offering protection of Celtic players,” Boyd said at a Premier Sports event (via Daily Record). “I’ve seen two waist-high challenges on Edouard this season and neither was deemed to be a foul. That’s not acceptable. There is something way wrong with the standard of officiating just now.”

Boyd, who signed for Celtic from Chelsea on this day 27 years ago, certainly raises a fair point with not just this season, but also the previous one being campaigns where the Bhoys have been on the receiving end of some terrible challenges.
