Celtic fans take to Twitter to call for permanent Toljan deal

Celtic fans have seen just 135 minutes of football from their new January loanee Jeremy Toljan. However, those minutes have been enough to convince them that he’s the man they need as their new long-term right-back. The Hoops have been getting on Mikael Lustig’s back for some time now, and Toljan is a breath of fresh air with his displays.

Last night, as the Hoops recorded a narrow 2-0 win over Hibernians, Toljan was making just his first 90 minutes for the club, and the German right-back didn’t fail to shine as he registered both an assist and a clean sheet on his home debut. Aside from his contributions, he looked as comfortable as ever at Parkhead and you wouldn’t have known he was a new signing still trying to adjust to life.

The 24-year-old moved from Hoffenheim to Borussia Dortmund back in summer 2017 and at that time he was viewed as being the long-term successor to Dortmund’s veteran right-back, Lukasz Piszczek. That is yet to happen though, and as Lucien Favre brought in young Real Madrid right-back, Achraf Hakimi it looks like Toljan’sfuture may lie as Celtic’s long-term Lustig replacement instead.

The Bhoys loved Toljan’s full debut last night and will be keen to see more from their loanee before the season’s up.
