Celtic would benefit from signing James McCarthy if he gets fit

Celtic are well on their way towards more domestic silverware this season, should their recent form continue.

In what was a dreadful start to the season considering their usually high standards, the Hoops quickly recovered and are now back at the summit of the Scottish Premiership.

That was made possible by the big improvements on the pitch and despite Celtic already having a great squad for the league, their European chances would be massively boosted if they recruited some more quality.

A player in desperate need of leaving his current club Everton and forgetting about his injury woes is James McCarthy, a tough midfielder that would fit in well at Celtic.

McCarthy, who is valued at £7.2 million on Transfermarkt, is still struggling with an injury that he sustained in January this year.

After a tibia and fibula facture, the 28-year-old has made just one appearance this season, which came for Everton’s U23 side.

His return to first-team action is still unknown at this stage but the improvements Everton have made since in midfield, like Andre Gomes, mean that McCarthy is unlikely to find himself back in the starting line-up.

A move to Celtic could allow the Ireland international to recover from his recent woes and get back playing.

James McCarthy can still prove to be a handy midfielder for a side like Celtic, emulating the tigerish Scott Brown in the heart of midfield.

Celtic fans would definitely take to McCarthy, a player that wears his heart on his sleeve and if he could recover from the injury troubles he has endured, Celtic could have themselves a top central-midfielder.
