Chelsea and Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been licking their lips after it was revealed the Premier League duo stand a huge chance of capturing one of Europe’s most exciting and talented players.
The Mirror runs with quotes from Paul Pogba’s agent where he declares a move to Barcelona is ‘an impossibility’, leaving the door wide open for Chelsea and City to swoop.
Juventus ace Pogba has been heavily linked with a switch to Catalonia next summer, with suggestions of an agreement already in place, but the 22-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, told Italian radio station Rai:
“There is no pre-agreement with anyone. We’ve already talked with them (Barcelona) and it was an impossibility that they could buy him.”
“At the end there were three big teams [last summer] that had put €85million or so with clauses to take it up to €100m. But they didn’t make a deal happen because Pogba didn’t want to leave and Juventus didn’t want to start negotiations because they wanted him to stay at least another year.”
“He chose to renew his contract with Juventus and we have said that when we think that it is the right moment, with the correct project and the right team and everyone is in agreement, Juventus, Pogba and the other club, we could leave.”
Fans at the bar are excitedly declaring that they will definitely win the race for Pogba’s services but for Chelsea it could all depend on whether they turn around their season and qualify for the Champions League.
