According to chroniclelive.co.uk, Newcastle United do not feel as though they need to sell captain Jamaal Lascelles amid interest from Premier League side Chelsea, much to the relief of our Toon Army here in the Transfer Tavern.
The centre-half was appointed skipper for the north-east club at the start of this season by Rafael Benitez and has been key in helping the Magpies reach the top of the Championship table as they look to bounce back from their relegation last season.
That form, however, has reportedly attracted the attentions of the Stamford Bridge outfit, though it is believed that the former Liverpool boss has complete control over ins and outs this season and is unlikely to let his skipper go.
Ins are expected more than outs in the January window at the club as they look to pull away from the chasing pack with their latest win coming against Preston at the weekend.
Lascelles has quickly become one of the major players at St. James’ Park and is hugely popular amongst the club’s support, following the miserable campaign they were forced to endure last time out.
