Anthony Martial is a popular man in the Transfer Tavern, even if Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to like him all that much. The Frenchman hasn’t had much action in recent months at Man Utd, yet it’s fair to say that most fans would like to see him at their respective clubs.
However, it seems there is bad news for most Premier League clubs, at least according to the Daily Mail.
Chelsea, then, it could be argued, hold the key in any potential interest in Martial – in the form of their Brazilian samba star.
Willian, like Martial, has been somewhat out of favour at Stamford Bridge this season, and Antonio Conte doesn’t seem to be too keen on utilising him as a regular starter.
The door, then, could be slightly ajar for Chelsea – at least if they decide to use their Willian-shaped key.
Landlord’s Verdict
A lot of this depends on Chelsea’s managerial situation, and so it’s unlikely to have a speedy conclusion.
That being said, if Conte stays, the idea of this deal doesn’t seem too far-fetched. Martial and Willian play in similar situations, and each player would no longer be required at each club if the other joins.
Mourinho’s connection to Jose Mourinho could also play a role, given that the pair are well aware of one another from their time together at Stamford Bridge.
