Chelsea: Fans have backed Marcos Alonso on Twitter with positive views

Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on Marcos Alonso’s performances for the club this season, with many appearing to be pleased with what the left-back has been able to produce as of late.

Twitter account The Blues posed the question to their followers regarding the Spain international and it appears the 28-year-old has started to convince those that support the Stamford Bridge outfit that he is good enough to be a part of the first-team picture.

Having been left out originally by Frank Lampard, Alonso seems to have made the most of his opportunity following Emerson Palmieri’s injury setback.

The former Fiorentina left-back has made seven appearances across all competitions for the Blues so far this season and has gone on to start the last four games – which have included both Champions League group matches so far (Transfermarkt).

Valued at £28.8m by Transfermarkt, Alonso has drawn plenty of criticism whilst being a Chelsea player – from both fans and pundits (something he says he does not care about) – however, it appears he has turned a corner with his performances and has made a number of those supporters take notice.

Been decent so far. Only plastics who don’t watch the games still want him out. Obviously want Emerson starting when he’s fit again, but Alonso has proved to be a great back-up this season.
