Chelsea: Fans rave over Billy Gilmour amid Cesc Fabregas praise

Chelsea fans are raving over Billy Gilmour after praise from former Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas last week.

The Spaniard praised the youngster as he labelled his performance in the 7-1 win over Grimsby Town as ‘amazing’.

The Monaco man said: “He played amazing tonight. Personality is the most important at this age and he’s got it all right. Now time to keep learning and taking advantage of these games to prove the coach he’s good enough.” (Source: BBC)

Manager Frank Lampard also praised Gilmour for his performance in the win over the League Two side, lauding his ‘all-round midfield play’.

The Scotland youth international has made two first-team appearances so far this season, in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup (via Transfermarkt).

£2.25m-rated Gilmour has enjoyed a superb career in the under-23s, becoming one of a number of stars to benefit from Lampard’s appointment as manager. He has scored six goals and assisted a further five in just 23 games.

Fans were more than complimentary of the young star following the comments from two-time Premier League winner Fabregas as they took to Twitter to react.
