Loads of Chelsea supporters have been reacting on social media to a recent post by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, hinting toward offering Frank Lampard an injury boost.
The 23-year-old is yet to feature this season after suffering a serious Achilles injury against New England Revolution in a charity game back in May, which sparked fears that the London-born midfielder could miss a year of football (Sun) after leaving the stadium needing crutches and in a protective boot.
Chelsea confirmed later that month that Loftus-Cheek had undergone successful surgery on his ankle ahead of the Blues’ Europa League final clash with London rivals Arsenal, which ruled him out of Gareth Southgate’s plans for this summer’s UEFA Nations League finals.
Loftus-Cheek had featured 40 times for the Blues under Maurizio Sarri last term (TransferMarkt), with the central midfielder contributing to 15 goals across all competitions (10 scored, five assisted) – including a hat-trick against BATE Borisov in the Europa League and a stoppage-time winner at Cardiff City.
The Chelsea product, who spent the 2017/18 season on loan with Crystal Palace, has responded well to his surgery, though, and appears to be well underway in his rehabilitation.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Loftus-Cheek shared a video of himself working out on an exercise bike at varying intensities with the caption ‘Getting that work in’.
