Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos is 'on his way to Chelsea' after choosing the Blues over Man City and Newcastle, according to journalist Lucas Pedrosa.

The Lowdown: Blues enter pole position...

Recent reports claimed that Graham Potter's side entered the driving seat to sign Vasco de Gama's talent amid real interest from the likes of Barcelona.

The 18-year-old has been attracting real Premier League interest, not just from Chelsea, but also league champions City and Newcastle.

As per a fresh update from Pedrosa, it appears the Blues and owner Todd Boehly have won the race for Santos despite rival bidding.

The Latest: Journalist shares exciting Santos update...

Taking to Twitter and breaking this news, the reporter says Santos has chosen Stamford Bridge over City and Newcastle - and he is on his way to Chelsea.

Pedrosa explained:

"Andrey is on his way to Chelsea! As we reported on December 1st, Chelsea intended to formalize the proposal for the midfielder after the World Cup and it arrived this week. City and Newcastle also made offers, but the boy chose the Blues."

The Verdict: Great news...

The teenage talent has emerged as one of South America's brightest young prospects with former Brazil star Juninho raving over his potential.

Juninho claimed that Santos is a physical 'monster' and a much more 'complete' player than he was at that age - a very promising claim for Chelsea supporters.

Winning the race for his signature will come as a very good bit of news for both Potter and Boehly.
