The Blues are firing on all cylinders in the Premier League, but their lack of squad depth is clear for all to see.

The emergence of young players has solved a few of Antonio Conte’s problems, with Nathan Ake recently recalled to aid the Blues’ defence, whilst both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nathaniel Chalobah have looked good when given an opportunity this season – but Chelsea’s striking issues remain.

Diego Costa is the only option that Conte seems to rate, with Michy Batshuayi constantly overlooked by the Italian – meaning that the he could look to improve his options over the next few weeks.

Costa is, undoubtedly, a fine option – but in the long,-term Antonio Conte needs to ensure that he has a variety of players to utilise, and that could be the difference between a Premier League title challenge and a title victory this season.

With that said, Conte seriously should seal deals for these 2 this week…

 Fernando Llorente

Fernando Llorente might not be a popular option in the Transfer Tavern, but his qualities are exactly what Chelsea need.

Diego Costa is a very mobile, varied forward. He can run onto loose balls, he can shoot from distance, he can even hold up the ball. In many ways, he is a jack of all trades, master of none – and Conte needs a striker that he can rely upon if the opposition are making it tough.

Llorente could be a great option as he is the perfect hold-up player. When teams are sitting back against the Blues, David Luiz or John Terry could fire a ball up towards him and he would be able to take it down and wait for help – giving Conte a completely different option.

He isn’t well renowned as a top striker, nor would he be a long-term fix – but he could do a job this year and beyond.

 Javier Hernandez

Javier Hernandez is well known to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, given how many times he scored against the Blues when he played for Man Utd.

Your classic poacher, Hernandez has been impressive since leaving the Premier League, having rebuilt his formidable reputation in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.

He is a player in the prime of his career, though he would likely be content with a rotational role as he has done for much of his career.

He could join Llorente at Chelsea, given reports that Michy Batshuayi could leave the club on loan.

The thought of Costa and Hernandez linking up is certainly exciting the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…
