Billy Gilmour made his first start for Chelsea during the 7-1 Carabao Cup win over Grimsby Town, playing the full 90 minutes on Wednesday evening.
This comes after he made his debut against Sheffield United, coming on for the last six minutes of the 2-2 draw, as per Transfermarkt.
Frank Lampard was full of praise for the 18-year-old, claiming that he ‘ran the game from midfield’ on Chelsea’s official channels:
‘It was a fantastic full debut, he ran the game from midfield.’

The academy graduate put his ability on the ball on full display, as he completed 92% of his passes during the game, while making 4 key passes, as per SofaScore.
His performance had many Chelsea fans gushing, with one even claiming he is ‘Iniesta’s idol’ due to how good the 18-year-old was in possession.
Gilmour will now likely be looking to cement himself in Lampard’s first-team plans, with games against Brighton in the Premier League and Lille in the Champions League to come.
