The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting to see a number of players join the club in January…
With the window now officially open once again, thoughts in the Transfer Tavern have immediately moved away from the action on the pitch and back to who might be leaving and joining the Premier League – and no fans in attendance are more excited than the Chelsea faithful.
Not only are the Blues impressing in the Premier League, but Conte is expected to make a few moves in the transfer market this month – and it would appear that he is starting earlier than most.
According to the Express, an exclusive report says that the Blues have launched a huge £60 million move for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, who has been seriously impressive in the Premier League this season.
The Express note that Man City are also keen, but Conte has reportedly prioritised a move for the defender – and as we have seen in the past, Southampton have rarely been able to hold on to their best players when such huge sums of money are involved.
Whilst £60 million is certainly a lot of money, our landlord still thinks that the deal represents good value for money for the Blues. At just 25-years-old, van Dijk has his best years ahead of him – and his impressive form in the Premier League likely means that the Dutchman will need no period of adjustment.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have gotten excited about this, though they don’t know who will lose their place in the Chelsea defence should the defender join – especially given how impressive the Blues have been defensively this season.
Their defence could definitely do with a bit of this, though…
