There was a cheer of delight, then, when reports from Tutto Mercato Web suggested that the Blues had begun talks with the Belgian over a new deal for Hazard – with Chelsea apparently optimistic that a deal will come to fruition.
Whilst any news of a confirmed deal appears some way off, news that the two parties are talking is hugely positive – with the Blues going to need to be at full strength next season.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted about this, with Hazard – who reportedly earns £200,000-per-week – undoubtedly one of their most impressive and important players.
For Hazard’s part, the Belgian has been vital for the Blues in what has been a remarkable season. Scorer of 15 Premier League goals alongside 5 assists, Hazard’s role cannot be understated.
It doesn’t look like the Belgian will be the only player that Chelsea want to tie down to a new long-term deal, with compatriot Thibaut Courtois also reportedly set to be offered a new contract.
