Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have taken a nervous gulp of their pints this morning, after comments from a star-man seemingly intensified rumours of an exit.
Blues star Eden Hazard continues to be linked with a summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane a big fan of the Belgian international who saw the Real boss as a idol whilst growing up.
Chelsea are understandably keen to keep Hazard at Stamford Bridge but the former Lille man shared a worrying update on his future, telling Sky Sports that contract negotiations with the Blues have not been opened.
“There is no sign of a new contract for the moment. I am focused on the last month, and we will talk later. It’s not in my mind now. I have two or three years left. I just want to finish the season well and we will see afterwards.”
Hazard’s comments came fresh after his starring performance off the bench for Chelsea in Saturday’s 4-2 FA Cup semi-final victory over Tottenham, which once again showcased his importance to Antonio Conte’s side.
The Blues now have their sights set on a Premier League and FA Cup double, with our landlord concerned Hazard may seek a new challenge if both trophies are lifted.
