The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are shocked at how many players have been linked with a Chelsea departure over the last few weeks…

Chelsea have impressed so far this season, with Conte’s men currently standing tall at the top of the Premier League.

However, one outstanding complaint often voiced by the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern is that the Blues’ squad is remarkably thin.

For the most part, Antonio Conte has opted to use the same 12 or 13 players for almost every league game so far this year, and whilst that has worked so far – long-term, it is only going to cause the Italian problems.

The Italian desperately needs to expand his squad, and so the last thing that he wants to do is start selling players. Both Oscar and John Obi Mikel have already left, and in the eyes of our landlord – that is 2 players too many.

With there still a few weeks to go until the window closes, Conte must ensure that the only business he does is with regards to incoming players – and so Chelsea would be silly to axe these 2 players this month – do you agree?

Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas hasn’t enjoyed the best start to life under Conte, with the Italian boss often preferring Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante ahead of him.

Fabregas should not be sold, though, as he offers so much to Chelsea’s first team. Not only is he an experienced hand, but his offensive threat is unrivalled. Able to spring balls forward and create chances out of nothing, Fabregas is the perfect player when the Blues are facing up against a side that is defending deep – with the Spaniard’s passing range often undefendable.

He might not start in the big games, and he may never get in ahead of Kante – but his role is clear, and Conte must not sell him.

Michy Batshuayi

Michy Batshuayi, a big money signing over the summer, has never had a chance under Conte – and Chelsea’s reported interest in loaning him out simply makes no sense.

Whenever he has played, he has impressed – and a move to take him away from the club is a bizarre one.

Chelsea could look to bring in a replacement, but what sort of message would that send? The Belgian clearly wasn’t a Conte signing over the summer, but he needs to make do with what he’s got.
