Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking seriously disappointed at the news coming from BBC Sport after the publication seemed to think that the Blues have no chance of landing Lionel Messi.
After rumours of serious unrest at Barcelona, Messi took to following both Chelsea and Manchester City on social media and despite this, the player moved to quash rumours regarding his unhappiness and a rift with manager Luis Enrique.
Our resident Blues fans have been reading each and every Messi-related rumour with their total focus in recent weeks with many salivating over the prospect of pairing the Argentine superstar with Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.
That said, after Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid yesterday evening in which Messi was yet again the star man, he claimed: “People make it out as if I run the club and that’s not how it is. I don’t ask anyone to make decisions.
“Everything that has been said is lies and I want people to know that. Everything that has been said is false.
“People say these things because they want to cause us harm. It hurts because it came from Barca people. We must be united.”
We still think that going on past evidence, the player has a fair bit of control at the Camp Nou and Luis Enrique should watch his back!
