Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is weighing up a possible move for Wolfsburg’s out of favour midfielder Diego, according to Footylatest.
The 26 year-old Brazilian is currently on a season-long loan with Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid having been deemed surplus to requirements at Wolfsburg in the summer.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the midfielder in the summer but due to the vast amount of midfielders they had in their squad at the time, they opted out of a move for him.
But since then the reds have managed to offload midfielders Raul Meireles, Alberto Aquilani and Christian Poulsen, which has opened up room for a new face to join the squad.
If Liverpool are lacking one thing this season, it is probably a creative play-maker who can unlock defences and this is where Diego could fit in. Despite not succeeding at Juventus in 2009, where he was signed for €24.5 million, he is still a talented player who can add so much to any team.
Wolfsburg acquired Diego from Juventus in the summer of 2010 for a club record fee of of €15.5 million, but he fell out with manager Felix Magath which prompted his loan move to Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish side have the first option to sign Diego permanently next summer once he completes his loan, but if they decide not to sign the Brazilian, he could have a future at Anfield.
