Could this tempt Fergie and Wenger to Italy?

The Gob On Legs 15 October 2009, 15:00 3 minutes read

DancerAncelottiWhilst the life of a Premier League football team manager may be glamorous, it isn’t quite the bed of roses that many self-proclaimed experts would have you believe. Oh no, it’s not just lunch at Claridges, pop into Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford or the Emirates to pick up your latest wodge of cash, before a night at Stringfellows stuffing £50 notes down the thong of some unusually flexible young Polish asylum seeker.

That is true unless you are fortunate enough to have links with managing a top side in Serie A.

“Chiambretti Night” is the name of the late night talkshow, hosted by Piero Chiambretti. Who is obviously the Italian version of Jay Leno or Jonathan Ross. However in typically Italian machismo style, his shows trademark is his troup of “unusual dancers”. Each night they entertain his guest with a dazzling array of skimpy outfits and physical gymnastics which leave little to the imagination. To think the Yanks have to put up with Leno’s wily observations and we have to put up with Jonathan Ross taking the piss out of Manuel from Fawlty Towers. It hardly seems fair does it?

Several star names in the world of football management have appeared on the show recently. Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and England boss Fabio Capello to name but three and all of them seemed to enjoy it as the pictures tend to show.

DancerCapelloIt hardly seems fair does it? I mean just think about that when you see Sir Alex Ferguson patiently signing the dog-eared slip of paper of some mouldy old harridan with more white facial hair than a polar bear, or Arsene Wenger smiling awkwardly as a group of questionable genetic lineage plead for the Arsenal manager to have his photograph taken with them, perhaps so they can show their friends that they once met with the beautiful people.

No wonder Jose Mourinho is smiling and loving life at Inter.

So I urge Sky, ESPN, the BBC, Channel 5 and the rest of the broadcasters who proclaim to deliver something that the fans want. Forget the fans. We need to keep the best managers in this country if we are to stay at the top of the game. We need to give the managers what they want!

Get Bella Emberg and the Roly Poly’s onto Jonathan Ross’s show is what I say and maybe, just maybe, we can keep the best managers in the game in this country.
