Newcastle United’s season has been clouded by uncertainty regarding the future of Mike Ashley and a potential takeover from British businesswoman Amanda Staveley, but that should serve as no excuse for their poor results in recent weeks. After beginning the season in positive form, The Magpies have slumped to a hapless run which has seen them record victory in just 1 of their last 11 league fixtures.

Benitez’s side have an opportunity to end their miserable run when they take on Everton this evening at St James’ Park.

Ahead of their midweek fixture, Benitez delivered a pre-match press conference earlier today where he strongly implied that official confirmation regarding the club’s ownership could be released very shortly.
