Throughout this transfer window, Crystal Palace have constantly been linked with a move for a new striker with Cenk Tosun one of the latest names to come up.
BBC Sport reported days ago that the south London club were interested in bringing in the Everton No.9 on loan until the end of the season.
However, things have since gone very quiet on the front and, with deadline day now here, the acquisition of a new forward now looks unlikely.
With the return of Christian Benteke, as well as Connor Wickham whose goal got the ball rolling in Crystal Palace’s shock FA Cup win over Tottenham, Roy Hodgson may feel there is no longer a desperate need to strengthen the team up front, which makes perfect sense.
Benteke’s dire form in front of goal, however, may have some thinking otherwise.
