Crystal Palace have been dealt a massive injury blow with Mamadou Sakho expected to miss the rest of the season.
The Guardian reports the 29-year-old is now likely to undergo surgery after damaging his right knee in last Saturday’s 4-1 win away at Leicester City, leaving manager Roy Hodgson in an unfavourable situation.
Sakho has been a rock at the back since arriving at Selhurst Park on an initial loan back in 2017, going on to help the south London club secure Premier League safety in both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns.
Undoubtedly, Sakho’s absence will be a huge loss for Hodgson and the rest of the team. The Crystal Palace boss, though, still has reason to remain optimistic with his attack now looking in much better shape thanks to the addition of Michy Batshuayi at the end of the last transfer window.
