Roy Hodgson would have been optimistic for Crystal Palace’s match against Wolves as the South London side had ten points from their first six games.
However, it didn’t go to plan as the Eagles went two goals down in the first half an hour. The defeat will obviously disappoint all associated with the club, and a lot of the fan base are also frustrated with the manager, as they feel his tactics were to blame for the result.
Hodgson always sets his teams up to focus on defensive structure, and this looked to be their downfall as they allowed Wolves to dominate in the first half. They looked better in the second half and ended up with 55% possession, but with their opponents having a two goal lead, it was as much down to Nuno’s side sitting off to protect what they had.
The issue was the fact the Eagles only managed two shots on target throughout the match. Next up for Roy Hodgson is Leeds United, and there will be a lot of expectation from the fan base to bounce back against the recently promoted side.
Here is what fans said about Hodgson following the result:
Roy Hodgson is the most negative manager in the history of the Premier League #cpfc
