Tottenham Hotspur’s season is already threatening to unravel after a miserable opening to the campaign.
Five games have produced no wins and just two goals, leaving Spurs 18th in the Premier League despite the club spending hundreds of millions of pounds during the summer transfer window.
Now, the situation is becoming increasingly unusual for one of their biggest-name players, who appears to have no route back into the team.
Spurs Reject Richarlison Offer
Tottenham have rejected an approach from UAE side Shabab Al Ahli for Richarlison, according to transfer insider Ekrem Konur.
The north London club remain keen to find a solution for the Brazilian forward, who failed to secure a move before the UK transfer deadline on September 1. Richarlison had made it clear to Roberto De Zerbi that he wanted to leave, having requested an exit earlier in the summer.
Interest subsequently emerged from clubs in Turkey, Brazil and Saudi Arabia, but none of those avenues resulted in a transfer. The 29-year-old has now been left out of Tottenham’s 25-man Premier League squad, underlining just how far he has fallen down the pecking order.
De Zerbi is reportedly not planning to use Richarlison this season, with Spurs instead exploring ways of resolving his contract situation. His current deal runs until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, meaning the club could potentially need to reach an agreement to pay off the remaining months.
Everton are not interested in bringing their former striker back, while the rejection of Shabab Al Ahli’s offer represents another obstacle to Tottenham’s attempts to move him on. With the UAE transfer deadline falling on September 28, there remains a limited window for a late solution.
Richarlison joined Spurs from Everton in 2022 for a reported £60m, but his time in north London now appears to be approaching an increasingly awkward conclusion.
