The Liverpool supporters here in the Transfer Tavern were thoroughly embarrassed earlier in the campaign when newly promoted Burnley ran out 2-0 winner during their game at Turf Moor, leading to many Reds fans reaching for the bottle.

Liverpool have improved considerably since then and now sit in a decent position as they go in search of Champions League football for next season, with a win over the Clarets this afternoon a must.

The club’s ardent supporters are extremely hopeful that their team can achieve their goals this season and they are in optimistic mood as they tuck into the landlord’s superb all-day breakfast this morning.

One Liverpool fan is demolishing his breakfast and washing it down with a crisp pint of lager and he is in good spirits ahead of today.

Following last weekend’s 3-1 win over Arsenal it is unlikely that boss Jurgen Klopp will make too many changes, although we do look at two players who could be dropped from the team for today’s visit of Burnley.

Simon Mignolet

The Belgian stopper was restored to the first-team earlier in the campaign following some indifferent form by his goalkeeping rival Loris Karius.

This weekend could be the time to hand Karius the gloves back to see if his form has improved, with the German the more likely long-term option between the posts for Liverpool.

One Reds supporters is sat chatting to his pal in the Tavern and he agrees that Karius is the better of two poor goalkeeping options, stating that it’s time he returned to the team.

Ragnar Klavan

The Estonian defender played okay against Arsenal last weekend although Liverpool have looked much stronger at the back when Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren have played in tandem.

It would be no surprise to see the 26-year-old back on the bench today, with the Croatian preferred in defence instead.

One Liverpool supporter is getting stuck into a bottle of red wine and he thinks that Lovren and Matip are the much stronger pairing, with Klavan not yet fully accustomed to life in the Premier League.
