Several of the regular Chelsea supporting drinkers in the Tavern persuaded the landlord to stay open a little while longer and you can bet your bottom dollar that a few punters had sore heads on Tuesday morning.

Ahead of this weekend’s league game with Stoke City the punters have been discussing the Italian boss’ team selection, with many predicting that he might make some changes for this one.

Victor Moses

The Nigerian was a forgotten man at Stamford Bridge before Antonio Conte arrived and he has featured regularly for the first-team during the 2016/17 campaign.

Moses, therefore, could be due a rest and a game against mid-table opposition like Stoke City could be the perfect game for Conte to hand one of his standout performers a much needed break.

One Chelsea fan is tucking into one of the landlord’s famous bacon sarnies and he thinks that Moses has been outstanding this season, stating that he should be proud of his performances so far.

Nemanja Matic

Another influential Chelsea man who could be in line for a rest is Serbian midfielder Matic and with the Blues boasting a solid looking squad, he could be handed a break during Saturday’s game.

Conte has built a solid side based on two defensive midfielders but he could go a little more flexible against a dogged Stoke side, which might pave the way for Cesc Fabregas to start.

Matic’s form has delighted the resident DJ here in the Tavern and the Chelsea fan thinks that it would be wise for the defensive midfielder to be rested today, ahead of bigger games this season.
