Everton: Fans are eager to secure the signing of transfer target Sergio Romero

Everton are on the market for a new goalkeeper after Jordan Pickford has failed to impress Carlo Ancelotti and co.

Despite winning their recent Carabao Cup performance against Fleetwood Town, the first choice England international had a disappointing performance.

Earning a troubling Sofascore rating of 5.7, Pickford was directly at fault for the opposition’s opening goal and made a meal of trying to save their second. He made just eight passes in the 90 minutes and was successful in only two of his attempted eight long balls.

Now, according to Paul Joyce (relayed via @EvertonNewsFeed), the Toffees are broadening their search to the camp of Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Interest has been shown in fringe player Sergio Romero, who will reportedly cost about £10million.

With Dean Henderson recently signing a new deal with the Red Devils, Romero could also be looking for a move away.

Plenty of Evertonians are on board with signing the Argentinian, who has won the Europa League, FA Cup and is an Olympic Gold medallist (via Transfermarkt).

One supporter has told the club to ‘make him No.1’ whilst another feels that they should be ‘all over this’. A third added that Romero is a ‘class’ goalkeeper.
