Everton: Fans left fuming as Vitor Pereira moves closer to becoming club’s next manager

Everton fans were fuming at the club after reports emerged that they were looking to hire Shanghai SIPG head coach Vitor Pereira as the Toffees’ new manager.

Negotiations have continued over the past week with the Merseyside outfit willing to offer the 51-year-old a three-year contract, according to Sky Sports.

The Portuguese would succeed his fellow countryman Marco Silva, who was sacked after a 5-2 defeat against hated neighbours Liverpool.

Pereira currently manages Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG and has previously managed at European clubs with vast pedigrees such as FC Porto, Olympiakos and Fenerbahce.

He has been coaching in China for two years and has averaged an average points tally of 2.10.

Supporters were livid with the club’s direction and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that Pereira was just another Marco Silva, while another was “underwhelmed” with the managerial update.
