Lots of Everton supporters have been reacting on social media to criticism shared of Moise Kean, after the Italy striker failed to score against Sheffield United.
Marco Silva returned the 3-cap teenager to the Blues’ starting line-up for the Blades’ visit to Goodison Park on Saturday, but Kean failed to beat the Premier League new boy’s ‘keeper Dean Henderson with any of five shots (WhoScored).
Kean enjoyed chances to open his Premier League account throughout the clash against last season’s Championship runners-up, with the 19-year-old recording efforts sporadically through his second English top-flight start in Royal Blue.
Only one of his five strikes were deemed to be on target, however, as two were blocked and two were noted as being wide of the goal frame.
Fashioning chances had been at a premium for Kean in his league appearances for Everton, with WhoScored noting two against Wolves and two at home to Watford, but none at Crystal Palace, Aston Villa or AFC Bournemouth where he featured from the bench.
Kean enjoyed tremendous link-up play with Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison and Bernard at times as Everton dominated the flow of play, but this only led to one key ball and one successful dribble from 11 accurate passes and three attempted runs.
Many of the Everton supporters responding to the criticism of Kean’s performance on social media have suggested the support was not there for the Vercelli-born forward against Sheffield United, though.
Here are a selection of the responses…
Every player to play in that position in this formation has been the same though , tosun , dcl & now kean (2games) that tells me its down to the system we play as appose to the players . To a certain degree anyway .

Pretty sure our tactics have something to do with it. Nevertheless why an experienced striker wasn’t also brought in to compliment and let him bed in is beyond belief

The striker is not the problem, the service is John, surely you understand that. Whipping crosses in is not how he plays . Big dunc finished playing years ago

Proven goalscorer and centre half were the priorities in May. And remain so.

We haven’t had a goalscorer since Rom left. Kean will come good but we needed a goal scorer in the meantime.

Service to him is a joke
Everything is back to goal
Not once today did we play a ball down the sides of their defenders. Everything in front or down wings with terrible pace

Blimey everyone been fuming because kean wasn’t playing. It’s one game and he needs time to settle

He has a poor first touch and little or no movement off the ball. I feel like crying again
