Twitter account @EvertonDesigns has posted an image of a 2015 piece from the Liverpool ECHO, showing opinions from the fanbase on Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu.
The article in question features opinions from Evertonians who, at the time, believed the named trio could be a new ‘Holy Trinity’ at the club during their Goodison prime.

Everton’s original Holy Trinity consisted of midfield stars Howard Kendall, Alan Ball and Colin Harvey, a real force to reckoned with in the middle of the park. A statue of the trio was erected last year outside Goodison Park to commemorate the elite Toffees icons (via Liverpool ECHO).

However, the 2015 take on the potentially new Holy Trinity has resurfaced and Blues fans are cringing at the throwback comments – indeed all three have since left the club for pastures new. One supporter has said the hope of Deulofeu, Barkley and Lukaku following in legendary footsteps is ‘typical Everton’. Another fan has branded the take as ‘absolutely farcical’.
