Everton fans have slammed a journalist after saying that the club should bring in Rafa Benitez as the club’s new manager.
Benitez, who currently manages the Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang, left Newcastle United in the summer after his contract expired.

The Spanish manager won the Champions League in 2005 with hated neighbours Liverpool in his first season at the Merseyside club, lifted the FA Cup 12 months later and captured the Europa League with Chelsea in 2013.
Benitez is not highly thought of in the blue half of the city, famously labelling Everton as a “small club“.

Dave Downie felt that the club should forget what has happened in the past and bring Benitez in as the club’s new long-term manager.
Supporters were not convinced with Downie’s preference for Benitez and made their feelings clear on social media.
