It’s fair to say Everton fans were fuming at every single one of their players on Sunday, but Lucas Digne has come in for particular criticism on Twitter.
It’s one thing to lose to your local rivals, but losing to their reserves side is quite simply a damning indictment of where Everton Football Club stand right now.
The Toffees have too many bang average players who do not fight for the shirt, with the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Morgan Schneiderlin attracting plenty of stick in recent times for their lack of bottle.
Digne’s displays this season have been particularly disappointing however due to the left-back’s excellent debut season at the club.
The 26 year-old was named the Toffees’ player of the season last term, but for much of this campaign he has been sloppy in possession and lacklustre in defence.
That was no different on Sunday evening as he struggled massively with 16 year-old Harvey Elliott, managing just one tackle, winning only four duels and completing a meagre 75% of his passes, per Sofascore.
