Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been tipped for a possible exit away from Everton by former Toffees striker Kevin Campbell.
Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell was full of praise for the England international but warned that a big club could come in for him in the future, whether that would be in the January transfer window or the summer:
“Calvert-Lewin is a hot striker now and I think a top team will be watching and coveting him.
“I know he has a long-term contract at Everton but these days, contracts are only worth the paper they are written on.”
Calvert-Lewin is on red hot form
Indeed, Calvert-Lewin is in red hot form for the Goodison Park faithful at the moment, scoring no fewer than 13 goals in just 11 games in all competitions so far in the 2020/21 term (Transfermarkt).
Can Everton do better than Calvert-Lewin up front?
Unfortunately for the Merseyside club, if his form continues, then the 23-year-old may well be courted by some other top teams as Campbell suggests.
Real Madrid have already been linked with a move for him, and a big transfer fee offered to Carlo Ancelotti’s side may well be too much for the Toffees to turn down.
Nonetheless, the Blues will want to keep hold of their prized asset for as long as possible so that he can help fire them into European football for the next season, whether that would be in the UEFA Europa League or Champions League.
EFC are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table at the moment with 16 points from their nine matches so far this campaign.
