Emerson is up for sale in the January transfer window should Everton wish to acquire his services, according to Sport.
As per the Spanish news outlet, he will be made available for transfer by FC Barcelona, which may alert the Goodison Park faithful given that they were linked with him in the summer.
Does Emerson start for Everton?
However, the Merseyside club may face stiff competition from AC Milan for his services, and so would have to act fast to beat the competition from the Italian giants.
Emerson has started the season well
Indeed, Emerson has started the 2020/21 term very well for Real Betis where he is currently on loan at from Barca.
The Brazil international has won a quite impressive 7.6 of his duels per game in La Liga so far, and has also averaged 3.2 tackles, two clearances, two key passes and 1.6 interceptions per match (Sofascore).
His ability both as an attacking and defending full-back could well be a useful asset for Carlo Ancelotti’s team should they wish to pursue his signature.
Could Emerson be a long-term replacement for Coleman?
Indeed, with Coleman currently 32 years of age now, the Toffees may want to look at replacing the Republic of Ireland international in the long-term.
Emerson may be a perfect fit. The 21 year-old is already outperforming him in their respective domestic leagues so far this season in several key areas, including tackles, interceptions, key passes and crosses (Whoscored).
Nonetheless, currently valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Blues will need to cough up the money in January if they wish to sign the right-back.
